Super Slatko Report

In this episode’s edition of the Super Slatko report, DJ Moe tells about a beautiful section of Croatia’s Dalmatian coast. The Makarska Riviera is a beautiful destination for all of us beach-loving travelers.

Makarska is a town located on the Adriatic coastline, about 60km (37 miles) south of Split and 140 Km (87 miles) west of Dubrovnik. As of a 2021 census, the town has approximately 13 thousand residents and 12 thousand more in its surrounding areas. If you look on it from a map or aerial view, Makarska is a built along a horseshoe shaped bay between the Bikovo Mountains and the Adriatic. Popular with tourists, Makarska has its own Makarska Riviera full of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Makarska's rich history is evident in its charming old town, where narrow streets lead to the main square, Kačić Square, named after the famous Croatian poet Andrija Kačić Miošić. Here, visitors can admire the stunning Baroque architecture and visit the Franciscan Monastery, which houses an impressive collection of seashells from around the world.

There is also a vibrant hub for cultural events and festivals, including the Makarska Summer Festival, which features music, theater, and dance performances, making it a lively destination for both locals and tourists alike.

Makarska has a great blend of natural beauty, historical attractions, and full of culture. Makarska definitely has a lot to offer.

Makarska even made a list of top Secret European beaches. Ranked at #37, here’s what the article said…

37. Makarska, Dalmatian Coast

Most visitors to Dalmatia head straight for the islands, but the 38-mile-long Makarska Riviera between Split and Dubrovnik, is home to some of the country’s loveliest beaches. At the centre is Makarska, where you can visit the main square but the main draw is the beach, backed by pinewoods.

Who goes? Those looking for a beach holiday with relaxed nightlife.
Stay: Overlooking the harbour, Hotel Osejava offers cool minimalist design and slick bathrooms; osejava.com.

Thanks to uncle Mike for forwarding me the article.

And that’s it for the Super Slatko Report!
