In this edition of the SSR, DJ Moe will tell us a bit about the man who is the inspiration for this episode. Đelo Jusić was an accomplished composer and performer!

Delo Jusic was a guitarist and composer and the founding member of the Dubrocaki Trubaduri. Born January 26th 1939 in Dubrovnik, Delo drew inspiration from where he grew up.  

The Dubrovaki Trubaduri formed in 1961 and were very popular in the 60’s & 70’s. Their song style was a blend of pop music and traditional. They reached some popularity across Western Europe briefly with their song Jedan Dan, appearing in the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest in London. Their song being performed by other people, never-the-less, it was their music and it reached 7th place in the contest. 

Over the years the group consisted of many different members up until the early 80’s when the band broke up, at that time approximately 22 different members performed under the name Dubrovacki Trubaduri, including, the late Oliver Dragojevic. Aka: Oliver.

According to Wikipedia, over their tenure, the band released:

8 albums, 3 EP’s & 25 singles

Delo Jusic passed away on May 31st 2019 at the age of 80 in Zagreb.

His daughter is a Croatian Pop Star known as Dubravka Jasic.
